Last weekend I bought some fiber and bricks for a raku kiln. The 8# density
roll of fiber was 54.00!!! And the soft bricks (2300 degrees) were seconds
(little chips here and there) and they were 1.00 a piece. I also bought
some hard brick soakers for 1.00 a piece. High temp wire was .24 per foot.
This was a fraction of the cost I would of spent if I went through a ceramic
catalog. I know he has sends several shipments of bricks to potters who are
building gas kilns. He is a great guy to work with. Some of you might of
met him at NCECA this year. He went there as a refractory vendor for the
first time this year. I thought this could be a good resource for some of
you.
