how to soak....gas firing

I'm having trouble with the pots at the top front of my kiln having blisters
on the glaze. The pots further back and lower down are fine. I think that
I need to soak a bit after c10 is down. The question is how do I do this?

I fire a old hard brick kiln with about 24 cu ft stacking space. the arch
is a barrel arch made from chiminey bricks. Using 9 of them makes a
complete 36" arch. I stack the door with insulating fire bricks. I've been
doing this for years, but in the last 20 or so firings I've had this
blistering problem. For the door I've changed from k26 to k23 soft brick.
The local refractory supplier didn't have any K26's the last time I bought a
box. Could this be playing into the situation.

What do I do? Do I just turn the burners down for a bit? (how long is a
bit?)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
