Is anybody familiar with the Brittany area of France? Specifically the area
around Malestroit and Vannes...as in clay studios, artists, etc. I am
looking for a place to fire ceramic sculpture and also a resource for
ordering clay and clay related materials for working. Any information or
leads would be helpful!

Gayla,

To get information on Brittany, you might check with the French "clay site"
called SMART: amart2000@wanadoo.fr.

sorry - only potters I know buy their materials from Limoges - and they are
about as far south of Limoges as you would be north.

Of course, Steve Mills at Bath Potters has so many things to do he might
find you a useful excuse not to do any of them and start lobbing clay over
the Channel.... seriously, Bath is about 2 hours from Poole, which has a
Cherbourg ferry, or 3 hours from Portsmouth, which goes to St Malo. Neither
close to Vannes, but it might prove economically viable for large enough
orders to come over here to get it.

I'm sure Smart will have a better solution. You should check out his
website in the archives - he lists ceramic events in Europe, and I'm sure he
will have lists of suppliers on-line too.

(Salut, Smart!)
