Hello RJS,

My on-line friend Smart tells me that you americans have been impressed t=
oo
much by the horror movie "The Mummy".
He said we should propose a script to Steven Spielberg about very nasty
viruses
that would have been inactive in raw clay materials for millons of years =
,
and now
active again, to endanger the life of potters, a sort of "Microbiological
Jurrassic Park"
(Hehehehe).
In all his carrer he has never seen or heard of any ill-health effect
related to
micro-organisms in raw materials. This guy deals with an enormous amount o=
f
raw
materials in a factory producing 125,000 pieces per month.
He says one company by the name Thor has a world wide distribution system
and
should have its products available on the american market:
1-Acticide BX for glaze slips containing glue(barbotines d'=E9maux encoll=
=E9s)
2-Acticide SPX for resin porous casting molds(moules poreux en r=E9sines)

He says plaster molds are rarely colonized by bacteriae(lime being a natu=
ral
bactericide),
only a few molds are seen after 50 years without being used, under certai=
n
moisture conditions.
When dry, plaster molds can be preserved for 125 years and he says he can
prove that.

SO, let us all but stay away from the panic button as Will Edwards said i=
n
the
first place
