Hi, I have one that was given me by a great friend, now dead, who was an
artist in silk screen work. They are used to cut the Ulano Rubylith
stripping film that is used to make silk screen negatives. I think you
could find one at a large art store . Mine is made in Germany and is Ecobra
Brand. It looks like it would cost a good deal more than 6 dollars . Very
precision made.

Annabelle,
Sounds more like a swivel blade knife for cutting film for silk
screening. Doesn't it? anybody out there agree? Later, Richard R. "The Clay
Stalker"

I'm looking for a swivel tool. It's a carving tool with a swivel head that
cuts fine lines and
makes great circles. They were sold in the 70's by a company called Blue
Sky Pottery
in Malibu Ca for about six dollars each. Does anybody have one they'd be
willing to part
with? Thanks, Annabelle in Naples Fl.

Hi Annabelle,
Seems we are neighbors; I'm in Ft. Myers!
You might try Pearl in Miami or Lauderdale-- www.pearl.com , I think. The
website lists phone numbers. You have to order from Lauderdale for items to
be shipped. Also, the Nasco catalog, 1-800-558-9595, shows one, #
9701165-Swivel Knife - $4.10 ea., replacement blades $1.85 ea. Nasco is an
art teacher's catalog and has lots of goodies. If you want to see what their
knife looks like, I would be happy to make a copy of the page for you and
send it to your snail-mail address. You can contact me at jcappanich@aol.com.
One more thought, Michaels ( Ft. Myers ) or Michi's ( Ft. Myers& Bonita ) or
Hobbie Warehouse ( Naples, Ft. Myers ) might also be sources. Good luck!

back in my days of cutting rubylith (about 15 years ago...) we just used
x-acto knives with the 'ol #11 blade. never occured to me to use these.
well when i had to make stencils for auto graphics, i bought one of these
and was horribly disappointed in it. x-acto makes one. you should be able
to find it in about any decently sized ART store. no michaels/craft store
will carry it. pearl and the like will though. i am in the LA aera and
could refer you to a handfull of them around here. also there is a plumbing
tool that is used to clean pipe after cutting it has a head that is long
(about 1") and thin (1/8") and swivels. my dad uses them. email me off
topic (rayg@hughes.net) and i can get more information from him if you are
interested.
