Hi Folks:
I have an Olympic kiln made in three sections. I recently took it apart =
to change the elements, now there is a crack between each section. I =
have thought of using furnace cement, but I may want to take it apart =
again. I could use Kawool ( excuse spelling) between each section, but I =
have read that it's hard on resp. system. I thought of loosening the =
bands while it is hot, but don't know if that would help.
ANYONE OUT THERE GOT ANY IDEAS!!

Thanks for any help,
Wallace

How wide are the cracks?

The firebricks expand to a surprising degree. The gaps between the
sections may even themselves out over several firings as the
firebricks resettle.

Wallace - I did the ceramic fiber between the sections of all our
kilns at school. Wear respirator, and peel the blanket into thinner
cross section, you don't need much. If it's tucked in well and not
disturbed you should be fine. Don't do this with sectional kiln where
sections plug into each other (like some Skutt models).
