hello,
would anyone have any decent glaze recipes for cone 6 in an electric kiln?
thank you in advance,

Barbara,
There should be tons of them in the ClayArt archives
http://www.ceramics.org/clayart/

Or if you just want to download a bunch of them without specifying colors,
go to Don Goodrich's web site http://members.aol.com/goodrichdn/ and take
a look. I clicked on the download "Text File" button. Prepare yourself to
be swamped. And test everything first of course. After many many
frustrating experiments, you'll undoubtedly decide to find a good clear base
that fits your clay, and then branch out from there with oxides etc.

Look in the Clayart archives (see bottom of this post). There are
about a gazillion ^6 glazes there. Some may be indecent, however.

This book of Mike Bailey ( I can say Mike because I buy from them from
time to time)
Well this book is good for the lazy and for the one who goes deeply,
(dictionary says deepen) Means you can take the recipe and go, or learn
much, good deeply. good explanations good recipes, formulas sketches,
clear esthetic small in size not too expensive.

Dear Barbara,
60,000 dollar question.
If you look in the archives, among many, many others, you can type in the
author's address as
aliskin@mail.dk and find some recipes. Always up to you to test before you
dive.

Best regards,

sshes not kiddin, theres like a gazillion of them in the archives, I needed
a good start for a non gerstley cone 1-3 clear that has a track record of
working well over underglazxe, deco slips, and over fired earthenware, i
found 5 cone 6 clears with huige lists of complaints and reformulated them
to be cone 1-3 clear.

working like a champ, thanks to the archives and details of terrable
experiences. My favorite is a 4-6 fluid, that apparently clowded and ran
alot even though it didnt muss up the drawings or craze. sounded like a
great candadate for over fluxed over fired, glaze to thick, and since i
wanted thin thin thin glaze, clear and viscous. i only had to take out a
bunch of barium and found it still works great at cone 1. Cant imagine it
at cone 6. but you get what you pay for.
happy hunting, and testing. sct
