I made a pot (stoneware) did some carving on it and then burnished it. I =
plan to fire it at 06. I just want to give the illusion of a patina. Th=
anks for all suggestions. Susan Isaacson.

Having re-read your needs I think maybe you might like to try other optio=
ns. I think you'll still have to experiment but for the illusion of a pa=
tina you might try thinning down a clear glaze & perhaps another one with=
color, firing it and then staining it and wiping it off. Also, one othe=
r avenue I didn't think of before were products from hardware stores like=
Lowe's or Home Depot. They may have a type of spray on paint/stain pati=
na that would suit your needs. I saw on HGTV where they were taking cera=
mic garden ornaments, painting them with a Jade paint then staining them =
to make the ceramics look like old bronze. So, Susan, call some of the p=
aint and bisque ceramic shops and ask them about patinas, check the large=
and small hardware stores, and surf the HGTV and Martha Stewart web site=
s. Gather as much information you can about patinas then start your expe=
riments with test tiles/examples. Good luck. Rick Bowman Repl=
