Where can we find some good galleries with ceramics in New York. I am
staying with Ilene for John Tilton's workshop and hope to go to New
York. Can anyone help us find some good places to go.
Cheryl

Greetings! If you can search the Archives under N.Y.C. galleries,
I believe that Russel Fouts answered that question a year or more
ago. It included Garth Clark gallery (upscale) and many others.
Good luck and enjoy the Tilton workshop! I assume it will have something
to do with crystal glazes, no?
Bacia
back from France, where it was roasting hot in southern France and
now is broiling in Madison, with heat warnings on the radio.
BUT I had a terrific day in Paris going around with Russel Fouts
and, by myself,
saw some Art Nouveau vases at the d'Orsay museum, one with blisters
just like one of my carbon-trap shinos!

At least go to the American Crafts Museum, across from MOMA (53rd? between 5th and 6th). There is a fee (going to a good cause-the ACC), and they can probably also inform you of galleries. We go every year and always find something to inspire us, no matter what media. Very innovative stuff there.

There is sometimes ceramic work in MOMA, too (check their website) and of course, in the Met, like the Oceanic exhibit, or the Egyptian ceramic miniatures of daily life, or the Arts and Crafts Movement room, etc. Seems like it takes at least 4 trips to see absorb all of the Met anyway.

Have fun,
Anne
