Ever heard of it? I have seen an ad in the local (two hours from me) =
pottery supply shop for an electric wheel that is supposed to be a =
Skutt. I thought they only made kilns. Anyone have experience with a =
skutt wheel and would it be worth $500 used?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Dear Penni,

My 'wheel' is a 'Skutt'...which looks like a shorter, squatter cousin to the
old "A" Model 'Maytag' washer of 1930.

Has the cast Aluminum 'tub'...and a foot-pedal with a rope that goes over a
pully to communicate to some cone-pullies inside...angle iron 'legs'...

It was so homely, so forlorn, that no one wanted it...a Pottery Supply had
it there for some time...over to the side...
everyone made fun of it, if they noticed it at all.
So...I adopted that figurative 'orphan'...brought it home...gave it a bath.

Anyway...this was a long while back...I traded a Trim-Tool for it, and have
found it to work honestly and well, though it is a far cry from the smoothe
power and snug compactness and ease of the better modern 'Wheels'.

That's all I know about 'Skutt' wheels!

I have had two Skutt wheels for 25 years and love them! The only thing that
has gone wrong with them is a little piece of fish line breaks and we just
replaced it with a heavy braided fish line!
