Hello Everyone!
I've been on the clay art list for some time but have
only now descovered how to send email.
My name is Pete Thomas from Ballarat Australia.
I thought I say hello to every one.
I found out how to use this just in time I have
woodfiring tommorow starting about 4am. I hope someone
will read this while I'm firing that way I won't be
out in the cold all alone. We are hoping to show some
photos on the Ballarat Uni web site which should be
cool. Can some one quickly email me back some time so
I know its been sent OK.
Thank you.

Pete's words create somewhat of a mystical connection for this =
late-bloomin', a bit-of-a-cactus-herself, Desert Rat. We have here in =
the Mojave a desert gold mining spot a few miles from us named =
"Ballarat".... yes, named eons ago after Pete's in Australia. It has =
often fallen on its uppers, but at the moment is being mined again by a =
company from Montana. Pleases me to have internet technology bring a =
"hello" from the original ...... sort of a geographical-bud....
We also have Johannesburg within 25 miles ... named after the one in =
Africa for the same reasons. The desert is dotted with such places...
always spark my curiosity about the Then and the Now....
I understand there's lots of clay ... interesting clays.... all around =
me..... hmmmm.... maybe someday I'll start traipsing these areas with =
bucket in hand searching for a potter's version of gold.

Dear Joyce thanks for letting me know.
I hope Ballarat USA still has more gold under it just
as the Ballarat one does.
They just started mining again here as well. I think
they are about 1.5 kms under the city by now and still
have further to go.
Ballarat is actually an Aboriginal word but I'm not
sure on its excact meaning if you like I'll try and
find out what Ballarat means
Pete
