Look, here is the limit table from Insight-of Tony Hansen
Degrees C 1180
Orton Cone 3-7
-------------------
CaO .3-.6
ZnO .1-.25
BaO .1-.3
MgO .1-.2
KNaO .2-.5
B2O3 .3-.5
Al2O3 .2-.35
SiO2 2.5-3.5
This is more or less my bible. I am not religious, so I go out the lines
here and there.
Look at the oxides, below the recipe, and see how they fit in.
You can see that the Magnesium is a bit high, might not melt good>>>going
toward matte
Antique green
=============
Nepheline Syenite... 44.00 44.90%
Whiting............ 15.00 15.31%
Talc............... 13.00 13.27%
Kaolin (EPK)....... 10.00 10.20%
Zinc Oxide......... 3.00 3.06%
Copper Carbonate... 3.00 3.06%
Rutile.............. 10.00 10.20%
========
98.00
CaO 0.39* 9.87%
MgO 0.27* 5.03%
K2O 0.06* 2.47%
Na2O 0.19* 5.39%
ZnO 0.09* 3.45%
TiO2 0.30 11.10%
ZrO2 0.00 0.10%
Al2O3 0.35 16.31%
P2O5 0.00 0.03%
SiO2 1.67 45.84%
Fe2O3 0.01 0.42%
Si:Al 4.77
SiB:Al 4.77
Expan 9.11
You can see the relation between the alumina silica is low 4.77 pretty
matte.
I never tried 10 rutile and 3 copper cannot guess how it will look like. If
you want it glossier add silica Like Ron Roy told you.
My knowledge is pretty limited , I cannot tell you how stable is this glaze.
