raku: electric to gas conversion

I have an old Duncan electric kiln (2.6 cubic
foot top-loader) that I plan on replacing soon.

I'm thinking of converting the Duncan to a
gas raku kiln. I have some very basic questions.
First, what sort of burner would be appropriate?
Would I need more than one burner? Could the
burner be run off the small propane tanks used for
barbeques, or would a small tank freeze up?

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated!
