Well, it's been a while since I've written to the gang but I loiter from
time to time and the list continues to be filled with interesting questions
and, more importantly, interesting answers.
My reason for writing at this time it to share with all that we'll be re-
locating from Medicine Hat (clay Capitol of Canada!) to the Saanich area on
Vancouver Island. The move is not 'til August 1st next year but I thought
this might be an excellent time to see who is on the list that lives in
that area. After over 20 years here in the 'Hat one gets well rooted and
the thoughts of moving to new territory, as exciting as it is, is at the
same time a little daunting. We'd really appreciate hearing from anyone in
the area so we'll feel there are some familiar bods when we get there!
Thanks a bunch!

Fascinating! My wife and I just made an offer (that was accepted) on a
quarter section just east of Regina, and will (provided we sell our
house in the Vancouver area), be moving at the end of September.

There are a few. Les Crimp comes to mind, and while he isn't in Saanich,
he's on the island.

Hi Dan
Does Metchosin count? It's the other side of Victoria, but probably only 45
minutes away. I just moved here at the beginning of August - but maybe by
the time you are here I'll know the where , what, who's and how's enough to
help you out. Stay in touch anyway.

There are a large number of potters all over Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
The community is growing and very diverse. If you want to get to know some of them
get involved in the Tozan Kiln in Nanaimo http://www.tozan.bc.ca . It is fired 3 to
4 times a year and is great fun! I live on Denman Island where there are at least a
dozen potters including Gordon Hutchens. We have an annual Studio Tour each May
long weekend. Next year will be our 15th year. It's a good time to check out what
is here! Good Luck with your move and welcome!!
Janet, hoping the forecast for rain this week will change so that I can catch some
rays on my mini holiday with my family. We are going to Nootka Island on the west
coast where Captain Cook sailed in.
