Chris, you should have gotten your money back immediately when they
cancelled the workshop. Call them tomorrow and demand it right away. But
don't be upset that they have not yet rescheduled this particular workshop.
There could be any number of unavoidable reasons of the part of both the
instructor and the school as to why they have not been able to do so. Many
schools set their visiting artist schedule six months to two years in
advance.

You should ask for your money back...
The next workshop presenter might be out of the
range of your interests....
So definitely ask for your money back...

Since they cancelled the workshop, you have the right to get your $ back.
If they are going to reschedule, they should let you know so you can plan,
or get your money back if the workshop date is not convenient for you.

I signed up for a workshop. The night before I sent an email stating I
would not be attending. As my email went out, the cancellation of the
workshop notice came in, same time. It's been almost four month and they
have yet to reschedule. I think I'm entitled to my money back since the
workshop never happened, but I'm not sure. This was to be my first workshop
so should I should just wait for a reschedule or ask for my money back?? So
timid when it comes to money issues : ) chris

Hi Chris,
If you paid for the workshop by credit card, and cancel the workshop, you
would have had the option of "protesting" the credit card charge on your
bill. That's why I like to pay using a credit card, because I have a
little more protection against non-delivery of goods and services.
BTW on those very rare occasions when this happens, I normally pay the
credit card bill in full, and phone and then send a letter explaining why
the one charge should be removed. (If it is later determined that you
should pay the charge, you'll be charged interest, IF you don't pay the
full credit card bill.)
I suspect that even if you paid by credit card, 4 months is beyond the
statute of limitations, and you cannot protest the charge, but this is
something to keep in mind for the future.
