I might be wrong, but I don't think you can claim work contributed to
charity as being in any way tax deductible.

You may be able to do this, but it would require the 501.c.3 entity (church
or similar not-for-profit) providing an in-kind donation letter. I don't even
play a tax accountant on TV, so please check the veracity of this info.
I know that as a pastor I've written such letters when, for instance,
I'd requested a potter friend to make a communion set and she in turn
donated it in return for the letter.
