Arnold,
I should have been clearer in my message about your advice. The glasses
that you recommend really do help. But there is more.
Before you advice, I was placing the cone packs too close to the peephole
before; I now place them about 10" from the peephole. I also now try to be
sure that I can see elements behind the cone pack. All this requires some
careful attention when loading the kiln, but it pays off in the long run.
