More information on the Jack Troy workshop....
The American Ceramic Society is hosting the 3rd Annual Artist workshop
Nov. 16-17, 2001 at the ACerS headquarters in Columbus, OH.

The title of the workshop is "Ancient Clays in Information Age Days:
Where Does Our Learning Take Us?" This is Jack's 40th year of making
things. He has traveled extensively talking to people about their own
personal experience with clay. He will be talking about what he has
learned from others in the past 40 years in regards to the evolution of
personal style and what influences have been relevant in their lives.

I talked to Jack this morning and asked him to explain a bit about the
title of the workshop.

Jack has never questioned what he wanted to do...He will share what
ceramics means to him and what it means for others. He explained,
"There are so many various and valid reasons why people make things".
And went on, "So many influences. How do you sort it out? So much can
be so confusing..." He told me about 90% of the ceramic books have been
published in the last 50 years. We could spend all of our time reading
and not doing. We can become so informed we don't have time to do the
work.

Participants in this workshop will be engaged in sharing their own
experiences with each other. And, Jack will be making lots of pots at
the same time throughout the day.

Registration is $125 for the 1 1/2 day workshop, Friday evening
reception, and lunch on Saturday. Potters Council members receive a 20%
discount off registration fees.

Hope to see you there!
