Dear Vince Pitelka,

I like your comment. But the quotation is not strictly true. And I can =
take it one more step into the realms of the "Oh! Gorblimey" logically =
absurd conclusion and show that no pots are hand made, or is it that all =
pots are machine made.

<< There are six basic MACHINES in this world. The wedge, the inclined =
plane, the wheel, the lever and fulcrum, the screw, and the pulley. If =
you use any one of these MACHINES, in any form or shape to make our pot, =
then your pot is not handmade.>>

I accept that the inclined plane, the fulcrum and the beam are basic =
machines. But the wheel, pulley and screw all employ principles of the =
more primitive ones, they are derivatives. But my hand is composed of =
beams and fulcrums. In addition the blade of my hand is an inclined =
plane when it is applied to the face of the clay. Ergo. All pots are =
made by machines QED.

Now for something a little more practical. Could you please send me a =
copy, JPEG or GIF, of the title and contents pages of your newly =
published book. I would like to encourage our local Librarian to =
purchase a copy for the travelling library.

Best regards,

Ivor.

Ivor -
I guess by now you have received the message from Mary Cassells at ACerS.
That was very nice of her. I do not have what you asked for, so I was going
to contact ACerS, and ask them to do it, but they are obviously monitoring
Clayart (which is certainly in their best interest). I checked out the
website, and the information you need is there. Between the information on
the website and the review in Pottery in Australia, you will hopefully be
able to make a case for my book to your local librarian.
Best wishes -
- Vince
