Michael Flynn Lecture and Demonstration, Sunday, September 23, 2001

British artist Michael Flynn, one of the most respected contemporary
ceramists of our time, has worked extensively with the theme of the
Harlequin figure, and is therefore a most appropriate guest on the opening
weekend of the Gardiner Museum’s fall exhibition, Harlequin Unmasked, a show
that will reveal the history and fascinating transformation of this
influential theatre form—from its humble origins as street theatre to the
gardens and tables of the aristocracy (opens September 22 and runs through
January 20, 2002.)

Born in 1947, Michael Flynn took a BA in ceramics from the Cardiff College
of Art, and then an MA in fine art. His work is widely exhibited in both
private and public galleries, and he is the recipient of numerous awards.

Participants are invited back to the exhibition in the Gardiner Museum,
where a number of Michael Flynn’s pieces will be on display.
