visiting san diego, palm springs

My wife and I had scheduled a vacation in Italy, but given the
tragic events last week, and the disruption of international
travel, we've cancelled our plans. (Besides, the seats are better
used by someone who has been stranded in the US and needs to get
home.)

Instead, we'll be taking an impromptu drive down the California
coast to San Diego, over to Palm Springs, and then back north
through the central valley.

Looking for advice on "must visit" potteries. Also, are there any
reasonably accessible petroglyph sites in the Palm Springs /
Barstow area?

We'll be leaving Wednesday AM - any pointers before then
would really be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

I love the Sunstone Pottery in La Jolla. It's on La Jolla
Blvd. south of town.
