I have a question here, girl. You give the number of hours for bisque
“depending on how many switches you have on your kiln”

What do you mean? Do you want me to stagger the switching by some amount of
time? Please advise.

Ditto on the glaze firing timeline: ½ hr at each level (low, med and high)
“ until it is fully switched”. How long between switching each one up to the
next level?

Firing a couple of electric kilns for years, and have never staggered the
switch-ups. Maybe this routine will make my stuff more beautiful, full of
depth or something. I’m certainly willing to try it.

Pam in Seattle, finally starting to feel a little more “normal”, as if I
ever really was…..eccentric is the common label. I called a Muslim friend
the other day and told him how much I appreciated him as a friend, and I
thought he was going to cry. I almost did, too. Fear is still everywhere. A
client of mine (I’m a real estate lady in my other life) is afraid to go to
the San Jose airport to pick up some documents she needs to sign for a
purchase she is making in the Seattle area. My heart is half way in my mouth
when my husband decided to go to a college football game on Saturday, with
60,000 fans there ….. all in one place. A horrible way to see things these
days. I hate it. I guess we are all growing up and seeing the way so much of
the rest of the world lives and feels. I mourn for my kids and grandkids.
Our freedoms have been changed in so many ways. Inside and out. I want to
get my creative juices flowing again. Blessings to us all.

Pam,
The recommendation is made for a kiln with three switches, with three
positions By the time each one has been turned on three hours elapse for
low asf for a bisque firing. if you have a kiln with automation, just set
it do do the same in that time frame. All on low for three hours, then on
medium and finally on high for a bisque firing. Half that time for glaze
firing, but needless to say the length of time involved to get to cone 6 is
longer and depends on how you stack your kiln. I keep a book with a record
of every firing, number of shelves, which shelf the cones are on, how much
ware. The more shelves the longer it will take to fire. This gives me fair
idea of how long it will take to complete a firing. Does this answer you?
If not contact me privately.Mia
