yes to central vacuum

Donald,
I decided to go with a Beam central vac system about 5
years ago at school and am very pleased with it. The 2
main reasons I chose this over a HEPA system are that
it is more powerful and exhausts everything to the
outside. It has a canister to catch the big pieces -
picks up 3/4" chunks of clay - and then the finer
stuff is drawn through the pvc pipe along the wall to
a filter bag in the main part before venting outside.
It's great for removing kiln wash scraps from the
kilns and gets in between buckets on the floor.
In my home studio, I am very low-tech and use a
plastic bottle spray mister to keep dust from rising,
and then a broom and wet mop. I also lightly spritz
above the wedging table and canvas table cover to drop
airborne dust as I'm working. A beneficial side effect
is increased humidity in winter for me and the
houseplants.
Best wishes,
Linda
