Judy,
Bell Research is no longer selling cones. The Orton cone is exactly the
same as we have been making the cones for Bell for about 5 years. Your
friend can use the Orton cone with the same results. If it is an older Bell
cone that they originally made then the deformation temperatures may be
different. She should use a series of witness cones to properly calibrate
her kiln and find out exactly which cone number to fire to.
