I don't know about Avon; but if you keep on south and take the ferry to
Ocracoke, you might find some. I'm not sure how their season runs. I've
visited a couple over the years, one called Red Drum (after the fish) and
another whose name escapes me. It's a small island and a little sleuthing
will quickly yeild results. It's great day trip and one of my favorite
destinations.
