Mayor Mel and clayart: I got this message today from our regional chamber
of commerce . since it is from my buddies in Texas i thought I'd pass it
on. Post it or not. I think it is a good bit of American entrpreneurial
spirit. I thought shit, if you only want it sent to a dozen people, no prob.
I'll do 3000.
If i could add one thing to the list of suggestions- Support your local
potter! They're good, hard working folks.
cheers,
Tony

Our friend and fellow American,

In recent days all of us have struggled to cope with the
events of September 11, and the events to come. Some
companies are reducing travel when our airlines are already
victims of the terrorists. Many stores are quiet. Phones are
not ringing.

At the same time, we all know in our hearts that America
not only can go forward but must go forward. We also have
exhibited that best of American qualities - our ability to
pull together. Not to walk to help each other, but to run to
each other in times of need.

In this context, we have declared Wenesday, October 3,
2001, as America Back to Business Day. We hope you will
decide to join us.

On that day, here is our commitment:

1. We will arrive at work early.
2. We will focus on our work. Our radios and TVs will be
off.
3. We will draft at least three key goals for our business or
non-profit enterprise for 2002.
4. We will place three orders or purchases - of any size
with any supplier - perhaps make an airline reservation for
future travel.
5. We will make a business donation of any size to any
charity or nonprofit organization - one which existed before
September 11.
6. We will treat anyone selling anything with respect; we
will return their phone calls and listen to their pitch.
7. We will call at least three existing customers (clients,
donors) to talk about our product or service and their
satisfaction with it.
8. We will call at least three potential customers, internal
or external, for our product or service. We will seek ways to
enhance our business through added revenue, not just
cutting expenses.
9. We will stay late.
10. We will stop in two stores on the way home and buy
something.

We believe that our families will understand this day when
we will be a little late for dinner. We believe that this day
will represent a new start for us, for America, and for its
economy. We hope this attitude lasts longer than just one
day.

We would ask that you send this email to at least 24 of
your business acquaintances in the next 24 hours. And then
hope they do the same. Together, we can help our
economy and send a message to those whose goal is our
destruction. We look forward to your joining us.

Support your local potter brought to mind a website that I came across last week. It is put together by a local potter to me that has recently had major surgery. She is making partriot bead bracelets. I thought you might want to see her site. http://www.earthformoriginals.com I'm not sure this is appropriate, but she fit all of the profiles mentioned in this post, patriot hard working potter.Maria--- clennell wrote:> Mayor Mel and clayart: I got this message today> from our regional chamber> of commerce . since it is from my buddies in Texas> i thought I'd pass it> on.
