best pot spots in ca??

updated sun 30 sep 01

I'm usually stuck here in backwoods, east GA, but next week we're actually
flying to LA to see our son..."country come to town".

I'm taking an extra week to drive around CA looking for leading edge
creativity in clay!!! We may go as far north as SanFrancisco and/or south
to San Diago....depends on what looks interesting.

When I travel, I usually look for quaint artist colonies, touristy/craftsy
shopping areas, resort gift shops, etc. I want to see some of the latest
trends.

If anyone has any ideas of "don't miss" places of interest to potters please
email me at:
Lexxey@home.com [or the above email, but it might get lost in Clayart
posts!]
so as not to bore the whole list....unless it's something that others would
be interested in.

I'd also like to know of any museum or university exhibits, open studios, or
other ideas....any help would be better than just driving aimlessly hoping
to see pots!!!

Any help is greatly appreciated.......

Check out Chris Clarke's list of California potters (actually ceramists in
general) at chris@ccpots.com.

Hi Alexis, If you get as far as San Francisco, you must cross the bridge to
Berkeley. Try to come on the week-end, when many studios are open. I have
a studio at the berkeley potters guild, but in close proximity are many
other studios, group and private. You can e-mail me for more info when you
know what your plans are, and you can see us on the web
www.berkeleypotters.com. We have just updated our site, new format, new
pictures of our work. Berkeley itself is worth a trip. It is really
beautiful, panoramic views of the bay, etc. Hope to hear from you, Rikki
Gill rikigil@cwnet.com.
