Maid O'Mud on sun 30 sep 01
Nature
Hi folks:
I was sitting at my old Randall this Sunday morning, trimming bowls (new =
style for me, so much taking off, re-evaluating and trimming some more) =
when I started to notice how peaceful my studio really is. I face =
south-ish. The sun relects off the pond, increasing the light into my =
studio. My Randall, pushed by my right foot, spins silently. The =
loudest sound is a Bluejay. Some crickets lament the passage of summer.
It is a perfect autumn day. Pure blue sky - the colour that only =
appears this time of year. Maples contrast the blue perfectly with =
shades of red and gold.
It is the 1st time since sept. 11th I've been at peace. My only =
thoughts centred on my wheel and the bowl shaping itself slowly; =
beautifully.
My best advise to those of you looking for a new wheel is to consider a =
motorized kickwheel. I use the motor only for centering. I adore the =
orange tractor seat, tilted so that the small of the back stays =
straight. The silence, puntuated by only one's thoughts, is amazing.
Clayart, be well.
