salt question

I have been looking in every book that I have but can't find the temperature
at which salt volatizes. This is in reference to firing luster (cone 018) on
a salt fired pot (cone 6) in an electric kiln. Will re-firing the salt
glazed pot to 018 ruin the kiln? My impression is that salt volatizes at a
much higher temperature than 018. Am I right in thinking this?

William -
Yes, you are correct. A cone 018 firing will have no ill effect at all on
the salt fired surface, and it will not do any harm to your electric kiln.
Best wishes -
