Lajos,
Check my site for a link to Laguna Clay or try ebay. Why not build yourself
a treadle wheel? It is not that hard. I built a Brent wooden kick wheel and
still use it today. I am not far from you in Palmdale, CA. I may know a
friend that has closed his business that might have a wheel for sale.

Hello,

I'm looking for a used pottery wheel in the LA area.
I'm taking classes at LA Valley College, and don't know of any pottery
groups where people would post ads... I've tried recycler.com, but any time
a wheel pops up, it's usually gone by the time I call...

Thanks,
Lajos

I do not have a wheel unfortunately.
I want to ask if you are HUNGARIAN? After the name I am sure.
I am not even close to LA, not even the USA, I am living in Canada, but used
to go
to Arizona for the winter, where I do ceramics.
In about two weeks I will have an operation (Hipreplacement). I do not know
how long I have to stay here. I hope I will be able to go down in the NEW
YEAR.
In here I have no place to work, very limited. I do not even have a kiln.

What kind of work are you doing? I do mostly slabwork and sculptures.

Very few Hungarians are in the Clayart, and we keep in touch.

Try the bulletin board at The Clayhouse at 2909 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa
Monica.
Shop is open til 5PM. Closed Mondays. Their is usually a few good listings of
wheels there. I got my leads for a couple of wheels there. Ended up buying
mine from Marymount College, Ceramics dept., somewhere below the LA airport.
Sorry, don't know the phone number. They are selling VERY OLD Shimpos and
Brents there as they got a new budget for new wheels. Some Brents are so old
they don't even have model letters! But the wheels are only $200. They are in
adequate shape for the price, just a lot of mileage. If you are desperate for
a wheel until a better one comes along, this might be the place. You can
always resell it for $200 to some other poor schnook.

I saw the EBAY.com today, there are two "pottery wheels" there to bid on.
You should try it. M.
