Mason stain recipes, or at least a list of their ingredients are readily available. Here in the States, most clay suppliers print what is in these stains in their supply catalogs. Absolutely necessary for food safety
issues as well as interaction between ingredients. (I was having some problem with Neutral Gray fuming pink on my majolica glaze and then discovered someone had mixed the glaze up wrong and put too much tin in it. I
just needed to look at the recipe to discover that NG had chrome in it - chrome-tin pinking )
