To the Clay Folks in Oregon & Washington:
A reminder about an exciting upcoming workshop with internationally
recognized, ceramic artist Richard Notkin. This two day worskhop will
explore a hands on project and will cover Richard's extensive knowlege
in moldmmaking used in his highly detailed tea-pots. The text below
will give you more info on this workshop. Also, check out his article
in October 2000 Ceramics Monthly. Please feel free to give me a call

Friday Nov. 2, 7pm FREE

The Lewis and Clark College Ceramics Program will present a two day
workshop with internationally recognized ceramic artist Richard Notkin
on Saturday Nov. 3 and Sunday Nov. 4 - 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A public
slide lecture will be held o Friday, November 2
at 7pm in Miller 105. This lecture is free to the public.

Notkin is recognized for his highly detailed tea-pots that explore
social and political themes. Most of this work is unglazed and is often
influenced by Chinese Yixing ware.

Richard is a studio artist living in Helena, Montana. His work has
been included in numerous exhibitions, private and public collections
and published in many books, periodicals and catalogs. He has received
several awards for his work including a National Endowment for the Arts
Visual Artist Fellowship, the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation
Fellowship and the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Fellowship.

In conjunction with the workshop will be an exhibition of Richard
Notkin?s current work at the Margo Jacobson Gallery at 1039 NW Gilsan
Ave. Portland, from November 1- November 30, 2001.

Workshop fee is $75. The workshop will be held in the ceramics studio
at Lewis & Clark College, O615 SW Palatine Hill Road, Portland OR
