What the hell is going on up there? The news said the Madison school board
has taken the pledge of allegiance out of the schools. Don't they know there
are men and women in the armed services from Wisconsin? Good God Almighty!

According to the news last night the citizen are considering a recall of =
the board members. Madison has long been a liberal town with a pretty ind=
ependent streak. But this is seen as un-American even by the liberal fait=
hful. Evidently the "one nation under God" is the kicker. =20
I hope they come to their senses soon. =20

Several parents objected to the mandatory pledge and the school board was responding to that. Remember, the school board didn't ban it, they chose music over the pledge.

What they chose was an Instrumental version of the star spangled banner! =
Gimme a break its like elevator music!
Last night after 8 hours of public testimony that lasted until 1 am and t=
he treat of recall...the board reversed its decision and will opt for the=
voluntary pledge. SO says WIs public radio.

I agree with you that we should have the freedom to chose whether you do
or don't, but that's what bugs me about people that want to deny
everyone else the right to do something. Give me a break. I can be in
a place where a Muslim prayer is offered, a Catholic prayer, Jewish,
whatever, it doesn't matter or offend me. If I wouldn't pray that way,
I can say my own prayer. The idea that hearing a prayer, or reference
to a supreme being, whether you believe or agree with the person
praying or speaking is somehow offensive is ludicrous. If we take that
freedom away here, then we line up with the Talaban and others that
would like to deny freedom and control the way people think.

And I completely agree with you, we all walk different paths, speaking
different names yet they all lead to the same place. The pledge refers to
God, but many other names could be used. And people should lighten up.
Just because one doesn't want to say doesn't mean no one else can.

Hearing someone else say a prayer doesn't bother me in the least. In fact,
I was thrilled that my son learned about different religions at school, bet
it pissed some people off. Am I threatened, no, but I think that's the
problem. People are threatened by other religions, lack of tolerance,
understanding, there's a million reasons.

Now excuse me while I go dance around my kiln naked and pray to the kiln
gods for a good firing = )
