kiln size

For a beginner, learning and having fun, I still say that for the money and
the fun, nothing can beat a test kiln big enough to fire four mugs, or
anything that will fit....you can test glazes, clay bodies, new ideas and
methods, all so quickly. and learn so much so quickly about what works and
what doesn't. I don't think that anything we can do will expedite trial
and error learning as much as first buying the test kiln, learning and then
knowing what size to go up to next. There's no point in making a bunch of
bad work just to fill a kiln. The first kiln I had, I built, too big, no
good......I didn't learn a damn thing during that year, except I should have
bought a smaller gas kiln sooner. For 350 bucks, you can be having all
kinds of fun, no matter where you are with a 110 v. test kiln. Even after
you buy the bigger kiln, you'll still use the little one all the time
