Dear John, Karen, Tom, and Alan, and anyone else who I might have left out,
Many thanks for your thoughts and helpful comments about carbon
monoxide and detectors. Just to clarify, my detector was a plug-in,
old (7 years), in a room used for glazing next to the kiln garage
(has a garage door, hence the name). No cars, no anything else to
create carbon monoxide. Those that fire with gas, know that when you
shut the kiln down lots of carbon monoxide comes out of the kiln.
Ron has mentioned that on clayart, the detector just shoots up then.
Because I have a detector in the area, the accumulation of the gas
must have built up inside. This list is great. Nice to know all
these tid-bits of information for everyone. And of course, while
firing and after shut-down, the windows and doors are open. Thanks
again. Liz
