money-ok i'm convinced

updated fri 26 oct 01

Go ahead, slap me around. I do it because clay is the only thing that ever
really held my interest. In other words , I do it because I love it. I
complain as much as anybody, but in the end, I try to keep putting one foot
in front of the other, and as much as I complain, I would'nt do anything
else. It's the only thing I know.
We get olong OK, but I agree, it's really hard not to want it all.

Subject: money-OK I'm Convinced

Seems that all of you guys work like sled dogs to make a dime....I know
I don't even try as the effort usually far outweighs the gain(Remember the
old guy in a wheelchair at the sale?)...and I can be insulted right here at
home....If you compared the life of the ceramist to the life of the
part-time stock dealer, the dealer gets more buck to his bang.....The doctor
fresh from the golf course gets more moola for his ministration.....right on
down to the ditch digger whom the boss sometimes buys a keg at the end of a
hard ass week....Do we as potters rate right below the guy(my
brother-in-law) that drives the manure truck(free fertilizer!) at the dairy
farm????.....
All those definitions of professionalism I've seen laid out around here
I'm sure were qualities the authors possessed...All the teachers say, "I'm a
pro cuz I teach".....The production guys, "I'm a pro cuz I produce".....
Well, Where is the money?....All the pros who are not potters make big
bucks...I know a part-time brokerHEHEHE that makes mo money most days in a
few minutes effort than most of us mud dwellers make in a year whilst going
24/7....It don't seem right to me....Didn't Jesus chase the money lenders
out of the temple?...So how come they get the wheat...we get the
shaft.......In my experience the farther you can get your hands from the
non-abstract material the mo money you get .....If you can do your work with
a pointer, on a video, at a conference, then you get to roll in the
dough....hang out at Caesar's Palace....play blackjack and make mo
money....We changes of state of materials get dirty, sweaty, and cook terds
and no money....How ya gonna play blackjack with no money?....mo money....no
money...Them: mo money, us: no money...Get it?
I'm not sure I'm all that OK with this state of affairs!....If anyone
says, "I do it cuz I love the work" I'll slap the terd out of em....
What I wanna know is.....WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO ABOUT IT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Where do I send my money for this worthy cause of turning the world
upside down and giving the money to those who do the work?

Rush,
The only thing for sure I can tell you about the sled dog thing is that if
you are not the lead dog, the view never changes.

I don't begrudge Dannon some of this largesse (spelling?)
but don't forget the rest of us, too! :-)
