Hi Gail,
you might think about letting those folks know why you're turning down the
job & even letting them know what price you WOULD have done it for. I
think it's important for them to have a realistic undertanding of the
costs/time involved.
I was asked to "whip up a banner" for the school where I teach. The
Principal loved it and I made sure to let him know that it was a 9 hour
job! 2 students put in 2 hours each, and another student and I put in 2
1/2 hours! Most people haven't a clue!

Good point Valice! However when I said that $1000 wasn't very much for such
a job she was surprised. She said I was the first person to state that and
there was limited resources then went into the exposure bull****.
Boy had I been paid for the 1000's of hours I volunteered at my kids schools
I'd be sitting on a Hawaiian beach a pineapple drink replete with miniature
umbrella in hand.
