Dear Valice,
These are ideal for making a background texture. Use with a light hammer =
stroke to indent leather hard clay. Also useful for work in wax and =
plasticine. Should leave a polished surface and you can grade the =
texture.

Hey, shouldn't we watch the titles of our subject lines above? My wife
happened by looked at "tools with balls" and broke out in laughter as she
walked away. Draw your own conclusions!

Thanks Ivor,
Gee, if I'd known that sooner, I might have kept it instead of giving it to
Charles Moore yesterday (grin). There is another tool that I've used for
making a similar (but larger texture)... it's a wooden tool with balls on
each end that doll makers use for eye sockets, comes in several sizes.
When used with a light tapping, it's creates a texture like hammered
copper. The students in the institutions especially love it, they get to
beat the clay over and over!
