Hey guys and gals, I just open the windows in my air conditioned studio to
let the warm Florida air inside to heat my water. [g] just rubbing it in.

Up north there is a small immersible water heater available at stores that
sell bird seed, garden supplies, etc. They are used to keep bird bath water
from freezing and come in various sizes. I've never seen one with a
thermostat, but they keep the water at a constant warm temperature. I used
to have a very cold studio and only cold water available, and I would leave
one of these in my throwing bucket all of the time.

Too simple, perhaps, but I just take a thermos or carafe full of boiling
hot water from the house out to the studio with me, and then add just a
bit of it to my bucket of cold water to make it bearable. Usually a
large thermos holds enough hot water to warm up three or four buckets,
depending on how hot the water was, and how big the bucket is.

Here's a thought: Fish Tank Heater $10

They have a built in thermostat, but you'll need a fish tank thermometer to
regulate it...

Since I have only cold water in my studio, I use an electric tea kettle to
heat my water.

There is a thermal heat belt available in various sizes, to fit anything
from a 55 gal. drum down to a 10 gal. drum/5 gal bucket. These have a built
in thermostat and temp. control, and can heat the liquid contained within
the drum/bucket to within a few deg. of boiling.

My current throwing bowl at my studio at home is an old copper bowl (it
was going to be thrown out when we were cleaning Sensei's outside kitchen area.)
If it gets cold, I put it on the wood stove for a couple minutes. I keep a
teakettle on the wood stove too.

I used to use a coffee maker. I'd just run it for a
cycle with water only.
