i do what i call the IV Dance. if i try to start an IV on my kid patients
and i don't get it on the first stick, before i try again i do my little IV
Dance which consists of announcing that i am doing it and wiggling and
jumping around a bit. works every time. the next poke always works. if i
misuse the dance and do it before i even try the first poke i make the IV
gods angry and i miss everytime. only time i think it failed me was when i
had to start an IV on a VERY FAMOUS Diamondbacks pitchers kid. bummer. i
don't tihink i impressed him any too much, the kid or the pitcher.

becky schroeder, just back from a very sobering trip to NYC.

My shop assistant and I recently devised a little dance we do to celbrate
the falling of cones as we move toward our end point in firing the gas kiln.
It's a simple little dance, like what cheerleaders do at a sporting event.
Right hand up (with a contraposta hip), switch to left hand up...then both
hands. Just wondering if anyone else has a ritual to celbrate the falling
of the cones.

We don't just celebrate the last cone, we celbrate them all on the way up.
018 (do the dance), 012 (do the dance), 010 (do the dance)...etc.
Also can't help my self from singing, "I's a muggin' " (which I got from a
Django Reinhardt CD) whenever I do anything associated with mugs.

Yes, I have a ritual ..... came about quite naturally. I watch the =
cones tip, then observe carefully as they go half-mast; I turn away as =
my attention is diverted at this point (part of the ritual), then look =
again ...... to find that all cones are flat on the floor including the =
11.... sometimes a 12 when I used one..... don't use a 12 anymore...... =
there's some information I don't need to have. Then I say a few secret =
words ..... chosen just for this occasion ..... turn the damn thing off =
and go to bed.

Joyce
In the Mojave firing again today and recalling when she could never =
steer a kiln up to ^10 .... always found ^9 had fallen and ^10 straight =
up like a finger; and you know which one ... where is the middle =
ground??? If the fates really want me to stop swearing..... even in =
private .... they need to deal with this unnecessary aggravation! Today =
would be a good day......=20
