A friend asked me to query whether using a food safe clear glaze over a
barium based glaze will render the pot food safe.

Hi Elca,
I need both glazes to hazard a guess - John and I have agreed to not use
the term food safe - but rather stable or durable. What you need to know is
- will the Barium leach and, if so, how much and will the glaze change
colour in use.
Gotta know the cone as well.
