some business help

Hi Clay People!

I have been lurking somewhat, but decided to come out of the closet to =
le some of you folks in on a bunch of possible $$$$ helps.

I uncovered this spicy bit of information while doing some homework for =
a program that is going to help me launch my Kitty Koffin business (and =
the rest of my sculpture as well).

Do any of you know that there are GRANTS available to form your =
business, or spiff it up after a hard run of luck, or what ever? Even =
bucks to help you buy a house. Here I am, 55 years old :) and I =
thought grants were for research, post-grad studies etc. NOPE!

Here in Aurora, there is a program that uses a savings "plan" that comes =
with all kinds of help in doing that. For every $1 that the participant =
saves (min. $25 per month) they will triple that amount. For as long as =
needed, I think, as long as the participant keeps saving. I'm =
submitting my financials this week. Keep your fingers crossed that this =
works. it is backed and sponsored by the Small Business Association, =
and has been active here for a while. No known blemishes.

But aside from that one, You can go to the Net, search for GRANTS, and =
make sure that you have lots of paper in your printer. I searched under =
"grants Colorado" and several other titles and was rewarded with pages =
of material. Remember that the grants are fairly specific, so don't get =
discouraged. Several of my picks were in reality, more search engines. =
Those led me to several likely choices.

Has anyone used grant monies? Can you give me an idea of what is like =
once you receive the grant? Any general pitfalls that I should =
understand before committing to ask for a particular grant?

Here in Aurora CO, on a beautiful fall day

I recently took a grantwriting workshop from the Arts and Humanities
Assembly , in Boulder, and the workshop was accompanied by a wonderful, if
slightly daunting resource workbook. I'd be happy to sent you a copy.
Scientific and Cultural Facilities District grants (SCFD) are not overly
difficult to get, but you must either be a non-profit or be sponsored by
one; not hard to do. They require a Final Report, of how you spent the
money, the worst part of all.

Dear David,

Would these grants be available to a county arts
council (non-profit)? Ours could sure use a bit of
funding.
