At the recreation center, the main source of materials has come from
donations. We have shelves of Duncan, Amaco and some glazes I don't
recognize. The problem is we don't have color charts of them. I've
instituted a policy wherein; if you use a glaze you make a test tile and I
will glue it on the top of the jar so the next guy has some idea what he will
get. It is slow going as there are hundreds of jars back there. Then, the
kids come in to the area where their jars are and don't put the lids back on
the right jars. Does anyone know of a source for old glaze booklets? I was
told by my boss that they had contacted Mile Hi and a Duncan and they weren't
available anymore.

Dear Sheryl,
I can't help you with the color charts, but I can
make a suggestion for you. If you have time and
desire, get someone to help you and just go
through and do all the tiles at once. Tape them to
the sides or bottoms of the jars. Even adults get
the lids mixed up. I write my glaze names on the
sides and on the lids of the buckets. It saves a
lot of cursing.

And Sheryl, you are sure that the glazes that you are using are lead
"safe"? If it's old stuff that has been donated, it may not be safe.

Make sure you contact an actual person as you might not get a response
otherwise. Ask for a catalog. It has color charts for both Amaco and Duncan,
fired at lowfire and also charts for the colors fired to cone 6.
