Penny- for what it's worth, Johnson Wax has returned the old-fashioned
Paste wax (in a can) to the market. It is, essentially, a Microcrystalline
wax with just a little addition to make it soft enough to work. If that
doesn't work for you, try any really good woodworkers catalog. It is sold
to purist woodworker types who want to mix their own finishes.
Bill- on Persimmon Hill- where I just mowed the tall weeds on a sight line
from the back deck to the deer crossing. It was really for me, but the cats
all thought I did it for them, to have clear field mouse and vole hunting.
(Silly me).

To the lady in Seattle: I wanted to answer your post the other day, but was
unable to find the info, which was among the piles and piles of my pottery
papers. Like you, I wanted to make some plasticene, but where to find the
wax. Came across CERAMIC STORE, INC. 1002 West 11th Street, Houston, Texas
77008. (713) 864-6442, FAX (713) 864-6550. As I recall, I ordered it on Jan
22, 01, and got it the next day. Ordered 10#s, $14.95, shipping $5.64, tax
$1.70: Total $22.29.
I used this receipt: l0 lbs wax, 2 1/2 Qts oil, (used mineral oil
instead of motor oil) 2 1/2 lbs axel grease, ( I used vasaline instead) , 25
lbs. ball clay. Actually this receipt came from . < sharon@shoval.org.il
(Sharon31) posted on Clayart back on July 25, 2000. Its probably in the
archives. Paul G. Brinkmann
