They call huge trees "drift wood".....amazing how the tide will move them
about ! Or, were the locals pulling my leg again ? I wanted one, just one of
those salt soaked trees to take home with me.....to fire in my kiln.
Beautiful country !
Friendly people !

nice to have you back on Clayart, Mel !

I agree with Gayle. The Oregon beaches are ( and should be ) source of
great enjoyment and wonder.
Living on Vancouver Island is also not bad as we have the Pacific Rim
National Park to the west of us with our Long Beach to enjoy.
I am not going to compare the two areas as they both have their magnificent
qualities.. I just wanted our Oregon Clayart buds to know we love it down
your way and visit the Oregon beaches any time we can.

Hank replies;
We had a socialist governor in the thirties who declared that the
beaches were a public right-of-way since the stagecoaches used them to
connect coastal settlements. Then, the bridges were built which connected
the whole coast. But his law was in place, and we are so grateful for the
vision of Oswald West. I came here from LosAngeles in '58, and really
appreciated the access.

The really great thing about Oregon beaches is the they are public. Here in
WA most of them are "privately" owned and you see no-trespassing signs....
what a waste.
Oregon's beaches are a source of pride and maintained beautifully!
