I read a whole lot of posts in the archives but didn't find one like the
incident I had monday with my KM 1018[7 years old, lightly used].
My 60 amp breaker tripped twice during a glaze fire and then seemed to work
ok[I thought it might be the slight brown out when the heat pump comes on
causing it]. The third time it tripped I switched it back and .....the kiln
controller blew up[sorta]....fire and smoke....and smelled bad.
It seems that dust or even bugs can cause an arc where the element pigtail
wires connect to the wiring bar. Skutt was great with help and is sending
me new wires. I just thought I should mention it in case others have a
similar problem.
It had been cutting off before ^6 twice but passed a ramp/hold test to 2000
with flying colors...it seems the switching on and off of the programmed
firing triggered and stressed the connection.
Sure got my attention....proves again why I need to stick around while
firing!!!
