Friends: I am embarrassed that I am unable to search the
Archives for a glaze recipe. I am not sure where I got it,
many of my stored glazes are from two years ago before I was tending
my husband full-time and dashing into studio for only minutes.
I have a cone 6 buttery cream matte which doesn't craze on
my clay if I do a fire down. It is gorgeous under a sprayed
persimmon and I need to weigh out more of it. I have about
a cup's worth in the container. I know I will be told to
go to the Archives, but I have done that and if I got the
recipe from Clayart, I have no idea when, which the Archives
asked me to state.
I am inundated with tasks re insurance, house repair reports,
and I have just added to it a huge box of papers with
glaze recipes and formulas scribbled or typed--in case I can
find the Buttery cream matte.
Could anyone help me out please? I haven't time today to
plow through the box-- appointment and errands ahead. I would
be most grateful!!!!!!!!

Hi Bacia,
Here are some you can try, that I like:
Surface is right, but more white then butter. Try to color them with
small amounts of Ochre and rutile.
Wodo White
50 Neph. Sye
24 Dolomite
5.8 Wollstonite
20 Ball Clay
My matt base I use a lot.
Marcia's Waxy White
20 G.B
230 Neph Sye
13.3 EPK
9.4 Whiting
17.4 Talc
10 Silica
15 Zircopax
This glaze worked great in small batches, but when I mixed 5000 grams, I
got a gloss.
Tom Buck explained that this can be the "mass effect" I think it was called.
Have to measure very carefully.
Lela's (Marten) Le Matt
51.6 Feldspar
5.6 Flint
18.8 Whiting
8.6 Zinc ox.
15.4 Kaolin
Lela's Eggshell
10 Dolomite
10 G.B.
14 Whiting
47 Custer
19 Kaolin
Best regards,
