I must not have given good instructions about the back wall. After cutting the bowl in half, I cut the vertical wall from the other half, leaving the 'floor of the pot. I, then, do the score and slip and attach the wall across the back of the 'front' half circle. I do this method because I want to have the lip and surface--throwing rings, etc, match. If you want, you can roll out clay, measure what you need, cut it out and attach to the half pot. That way, you can get two dog bowls. It takes more time to do that. From the floor that is left, if using my method, I use 35mm film cannister, small Rx bottle, something round and cut the circles. I use those as the feet for the bowl, thereby having all pieces of the same moisture content, scoring(luting?) and slipping-or use magic water.
One other thing, to make the join of the walls nicely fit, I bevel the cut. It is neat! Now, I hope this is clearer than mud! (:>)
