Dear Group,
Has anyone heard of a Nova 18 electric kiln? A student of mine just =
picked up one for free. It's an older kiln, but apparently in very good =
condition. I did a search on the 'net and didn't come up with anything. =
Any info--especially about where she might get elements and other =
parts--would be very helpful. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I have an old Nova electric kiln. Plugs right into a 110 outlet. It's very
small though... maybe 7" H X 11.5" W (inside firing dimensions). I believe it
is called a Doll Kiln or China Painter or something like that. I have it all
packed away for my move back east so I can't give you any specifics right
now. Email me privately after the first of the year and I'll probably be able
to locate the paperwork that I have on it, as well as give you any
information off of the panel on the outside of it. I think I recall finding
out once that this company had gone out of business a while ago. I picked it
up from a physician's wife who used to do a bunch of slip casting stuff...
for like $125... this was back in 1987 or so. I used it for 3 years as my
only source of firing from my studio when I was starting out... I used it for
bisque and raku and it worked fine. It's still in decent shape too. (I had to
lay some of my vessels on their side in order to get them to fit... lol)

Good luck!

Cloudy in So. Calif. today with rain threatening in the next few days. Trying
to wrap up any loose ends in my makeshift studio before I begin packing it
all away for the move back east. Excited to see my last series of shino pots
come out of the kiln at a nearby University... all functional pieces for my
own kitchen (i.e. - lidded casserole, garlic & onion storage pots, a small
lidded salt crock, lidded cookie jars, and misc tumblers and mugs).
