Hi!
This is an interesting result of an un-understanding the materia. I
kind of liked it. Not anymore. If any of you want to use it here is how
I have made it.
I wrote before, but on that letter I did not understand that the Swirl
raku was caused by a big mistake.
For a plate I used K 129 Raku claybody, any other will be fine.
I made slip out of VC raku claybody. 400 grams kaolin, I chose English
as it was white kaolin (at the time the only kind I had) 200 grams
ball clay AK 180 grams Talc 120 grams alumina , either oxide or
hydrate. 100 grams molochite. Plus 1.5 grams of sodium silicate and the
same amount of soda ash.
I suppose to add 400 gram water, but I add as much as needed.
(Now you can try to use this mix to make slipcasting for raku)
Some of the slip as white I brushed over the slab that meant to be a
plate. Some about 200gram into three plastic jars. To each I added one
spoon or more, either of Copper, cobalt or RIO. I got blue slip RIO
slip and Copper slip.
Not knowing I should use flocculates, for slip trailing I used
defloculantes. The result was swirl raku. An hour later I turned it
upside down above one of my hump molds, shaped a and added legs.
I don't like it so much anymore.
Perhaps you do, so enjoy it.
I added a JPG to my raku page.
